Vista Temporary Power

The Vista Business Park is the center of gravity for our work up here. It is one of the larger industrial parks in North County and it turns over constantly: a tenant leaves, the space gets stripped, a new fit-out starts. Those jobs almost always need temporary power that the building cannot supply, because the existing service is sized for the previous tenant and the demolition phase has the house panel dead anyway.

Brewery and food-production build-outs are a genuine speciality in Vista, and they are electrically demanding in a way that surprises people. Glycol chillers, packaging lines, walk-in refrigeration and process pumps are large motor loads with real inrush, and they get commissioned one at a time over weeks. A generator rental sized only to the running load will stall on the first cold start of the biggest motor, so we size for starting current on these jobs rather than for the sum of the nameplates.

The residential side of Vista is hillside lots and older neighborhoods in the valleys, and the constraint is nearly always the distance from the utility connection to where the work is. On a sloping lot with the house set well back, a temporary power pole placed sensibly beats a long run of cord every time, both for voltage drop and for the simple reason that cords across a slope are a trip hazard nobody needs.

Inland Vista gets hot without getting East County hot. Summer afternoons in the nineties are normal, and inside a metal-skinned industrial building with the roll-up doors closed for dust control it is considerably worse than that. Portable AC rental is standard on brewery and food fit-outs here for a practical reason beyond comfort: coatings, epoxies and floor systems have temperature and humidity windows, and blowing those windows means doing the floor twice.

Fit-out work runs to a lease date, which means it runs long days. Construction lighting inside a building with the permanent fixtures not yet hung is the difference between a productive second shift and a hazard, and industrial ceiling heights need proper towers or high-bay temporary strings rather than a couple of work lights on stands.

Because these are tenant spaces in multi-unit buildings, coordination with the landlord and the neighboring tenants is part of the job. We handle the conversation about where a pedestal can sit, when a shutdown can happen and how cables cross a shared loading area, rather than leaving the general contractor to negotiate it on our behalf.
