About Us
A licensed C-10 electrical contractor that has been getting San Diego County job sites energized, lit, cooled and connected since 2009.
Temporary Power San Diego
Temporary Power San Diego is a licensed California C-10 electrical contractor working out of Little Italy and covering the whole county. We do one thing and we do it every day: get construction sites powered, lit, cooled, connected and watched, from the first bare lot through to the week the permanent service takes over.
How Long We Have Been Doing This
We have been setting temporary services across San Diego County since 2009. In that time the building cycle has been through a crash, a boom, a pandemic and whatever this is, and the work has changed with it: what used to be a temp pole and nothing else is now a pole, a light tower, a spot cooler, a router and three cameras. What has not changed is the part that decides whether a site starts on time, which is knowing how each jurisdiction inspects and how the utility queue actually behaves in any given month.
The Story Behind The Company
The company started because of a problem the founder kept running into as a job-site electrician: the temporary service was always somebody’s afterthought. It got ordered late, quoted by whoever answered, installed by whoever was free, and then everybody stood around on a Monday morning wondering why there was no meter. Building a company that treats the temporary service as the first item on the programme rather than the last turned out to be a business, because contractors will pay real money for a date they can trust.
The Crew
Every install is supervised by a licensed California journeyman electrician, and our coordinators have all done the work themselves — they have set poles, pulled wire, driven ground rods into decomposed granite and argued a correction with an inspector. That matters when we give you a schedule, because it is grounded in what the job actually takes rather than in what would be convenient. It also means that when something on site is not going the way the plan said, the person you call has seen it before.
The Equipment We Run
We stock and maintain our own gear rather than brokering somebody else’s, which is why we can tell you on a Tuesday what will be on your site on Thursday. That covers temp poles and pedestals built to SDG&E’s current standard, diesel and gas generator sets from 20kW to 500kW, light towers in diesel, LED and silent solar, spot coolers from one to five tons plus temporary heaters, bonded 5G routers with directional antennas, and solar cellular site cameras and mobile surveillance trailers. Keeping the whole range of temporary construction power and site equipment on our own yard is what stops a schedule change turning into a sourcing problem.
Why We Like The Work
There is something genuinely satisfying about a bare lot that had nothing on it on Monday having metered power, light and a camera on it by Friday. Every building in this county started with somebody plugging a saw into a temporary service, and being the reason a crew can start on the day they were told they could start is a decent way to spend a career. It also means we are on a lot of sites — which is how we know what works.
